The baseball field is on the northwest corner of the main campus. Due to its location, flanked by campus buildings as well as a pair of busy streets and one of Plant’s former rail lines, the entire field complex is surrounded by netting, in addition to the usual nets that protect spectators. A lone osprey nest platform sits atop one of the net support poles. The field faces east, its orientation dictated in part by the rail line.

Spartans baseball has built a long track record of success. The roster frequently contains a large proportion of transfer students, a combination of junior college players and ones who were lost on the depth chart at NCAA Division I schools. The formula has worked; Tampa has won the Division II national championship ten times, most recently back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025.

Prior to the 2023 season, the field was refitted with artificial turf, including the plate and mound areas.
